Maubreuil's blogTEAM MAUBREUIL PORTRAIT

From the moment you approach the hotel grounds, your eyes are bathed in the splendor of the gardens that majestically adorn the Château grounds. Simon's care for the grounds embodies attention to detail and attentive sensitivity, creating a truly unique experience for every visitor to Château de Maubreuil.
Meet Simon, Head of Green Spaces Maintenance.
Before joining Château de Maubreuil in December 2022, Simon explored a variety of professions. Initially a salt worker, then a crepe maker, he decided to redirect his career towards horizons more in line with his core values: the preservation of nature and the quest for meaning. Endowed with an "atypical" personality, Simon says he is motivated by his desire to "understand human nature, neuroscience and medicine through the properties of plants".
The meticulous upkeep of green spaces offers Simon the opportunity to develop both professionally and personally. A newcomer to the field, he believes he brings "a fresh perspective" to our teams. As he shares: "What fascinates me most is understanding how nature works, so that I can work with it and support it. One of my main motivations is to learn things that are useful on a daily basis, so that I can eventually be 100% autonomous in my life. As an anecdote from Château de Maubreuil, he recounts: "During a storm, we had to cut down three trees. With the wind blowing violently and the rain pouring down, it was a memorable and extremely impressive moment."
He plays a vital role in the refined aesthetics of Château de Maubreuil. His constant vigilance is required to keep all outdoor areas clean and well-maintained, as weeds and dead leaves are his adversaries to overcome. Gastronomy also plays a fundamental role in his work, as he works closely with the kitchens of our gourmet restaurant, "La Table du Marquis". Together with Clément, Basile and Elwan, Simon harvests the fruits and vegetables from the Jardin de Maubreuil. So you can enjoy dishes grown with love and care, from the garden to your plate.
Simplicity and authenticity are the cornerstones of Simon's personality. Like his passion for nature, he sees the Maubreuil teams as carrying with them an "ethic and a pure heart", which is his favorite aspect of daily life at the Château. In addition to his authenticity, Simon appreciates the simple things in life. His most rewarding project at Maubreuil was planting vegetables and tasting them afterwards. For him, "few things are enough to be happy", he concludes.
