What is happening in April at the Maubreuil farm?
Silence, it is growing ! April is the month of renewal by excellence, the arrival of spring, the season of love... And love is needed to give life and growth to the plants that will soon adorn the gardens of Maubreuil. This month we invite you to a quiet visit of our "nursery". Bathed in a warm light, the Maubreuil greenhouse has indeed been the theater these last few weeks of the comings and goings of Clément, our gardener, who has been working since the beginning of March on the realization of the seedlings. Let's lift the veil on some of the surprises that our gastronomic restaurant will soon have in store for you...
Indian pepper, Siberian melon, Armenian cucumber, black cape gooseberry, red eggplant or disbudded eggplant... At the Château de Maubreuil, the plants play with their names and colors to take you on a sensory journey of discovery. But before surprising your taste buds, let's let time do its work. From the seed to the plant, we watch them grow, day after day, first in our greenhouse. With the help of Fabien, our stonemason, who has swapped the tufa stone for dirt for the occasion, Clément, our gardener, is taking care of them. In a few weeks, our seedlings will have reached the necessary size to be transplanted in the ground, in our vegetable garden.
Atypical, astonishing, the varieties we grow are carefully selected for their singularity, but also for their capacity to adapt themselves to their ecosystem. Therefore, we will associate them with each other according to the principles of permaculture, to balance their needs in water and nutriments, but also to keep pests away, all in order to optimize our resources and avoid the use of chemicals.
Our philosophy is to let time and nature do its work, and to be inspired by it, as in the mandala garden we have just begun to create on the estate. Built in a spiral, it reproduces the golden ratio, a symbol of infinity found on the shell of a snail or in the arrangement of the petals of a flower... A place to relax in a green setting just a stone's throw from Nantes, which we invite you to enjoy during your next stay in our 5-star hotel.
